Everyone can Participate! – The Yacht Week will arrange with a professional skipper for you and your friends. The skipper will know EVERYTHING about the yacht and the event!
How does it work?
When you choose a yacht you should have in mind that the skipper will need to sleep in one of the beds on the yacht (normally one of the bunk beds).
The Yacht Week skippers are not to be considered as employed staff on the yacht. 50% of your payment will never reach the skipper as we have to pay employer tax and income tax. This means that our skippers work for approximately EUR1000 per month. Please have this in mind! Treat your skipper as good as possible!
If you want an employed skipper we can arrange with that service as well. Local professional skippers charge EUR 840 per week which you will have to pay cash upon arrival (with an invoice from the skipper). Please write “I want a professional skipper” in the comment field when booking your yacht if you want an “external” professional skipper. Learn more about the skipper duties.

- 10 persons inc. own skipper (all 10 pay) = 4000/10 = €400 /person
- 9 persons + pro skipper = (4000+500)/9 = €500 /person – “mixed or girls only crew”
- 9 persons + pro skipper = (4000+800)/9 = €533 /person – “boys only crew”
- With your own skipper you have one more paying crew member + no extra cost.
Bookings with mixed and girl crews get a skipper with a lower fees because it helps The Yacht Week to maintain an even balance for our events, making them as fun as possible for everyone.
He/She is an extra friend on the boat on vacation with you and your friends.
To sail on Croatian waters, a skipper must have a VHF Licence. In both Greece and Croatia a skipper must provide a certificate of navigational skills. For bareboat yacht charter at least one member of the party shall produce evidence as to their competence to skipper the yacht.
