We’ll try to explain what it’s like living on a sailing yacht for one week!
First a quick pitch why a yacht is sooo much better than a hotel room:
- You are always seconds away from swimming in the ocean.
- The yacht moves from Island to Island every day, always a new destination to enjoy.
- Ocean view 24/7 with free access to food and drinks from the kitchen (stove & fridge on all yachts).
- You buy your own food and drinks at the supermarket (=cheap)
- On the deck it’s always sunny with a fresh breeze ensuring best possible tan
- You won’t be surrounded by tourists since you are away from the most crowded places during the day while sailing.
- With a sailing yacht you can always access beautiful natural bays for a nice lunch stop combined with swimming.
All in all the sailing yacht is something you will use 24/7 for sailing, eating, drinking, socialising, sleeping and partying!
This is what a normal day on a yacht looks like:
- 09.00-11.00 you wake up and eat breakfast on the yacht. (food that you bought from a supermarket)
- 10.00-12.00 time to leave the port and set sails
- 12.00-14.00 time for a lunch stop in a nice natural bay. The yacht will stay at anchor for 1-2 hours while you swim around, have lunch and relax.
- 14.00-16.00 time to sail towards the next port. Enjoy the sun and relaxing on the deck
- 16.00-18.00 arrival to the port. If you arrive early you might stay in the port and be able to walk ashore (to land). If you arrive late you might stay at anchor in the port. If so you will reach land with your dinghy (small motor boat).
- 18.00-20.00 dinner in a restaurant in the town or on the yacht.
- 20.00-23.00 drinks, socialising and parties on the yachts.
- 22.00-23.00 time to leave the yacht and head off to The Yacht Week party for the evening.
- 02.00-03.00 bed time!
Some of the days we will not go to a port. That means that all yachts will stay together in a natural bay which is incredibly nice. Night swimming and late night drinks in the cockpit and listening to music.
QUICK FACTS:
Unless you are in a port connected to land there is NO 230V electricity on the yachts. Only 12V
All yachts have: stereo, fridge, stove/cooker, toilets, showers (inside and outside)
Pack LIGHT!! Don’t bring too much baggage, make sure the bags are SOFT. No samsonite type suitcases on a yacht.
